MarketplaceAmelia Island Florida The difference between Jacksonville Beach and Amelia Island in Florida? My family and I'm going to Florida in early August, and we've narrowed it down between our two favorite tracks: Jacksonville and Amelia Island. Has anyone been one of those two or preference? Which is quieter? Nicer? Which hotel did you stay in and was it good? This information would be very useful if you can to get it! Thank you! I wonder why you've narrowed to these two. I am a resident of Florida, and those who are not really liked the beaches among Floridians. The beaches of the peninsula of white sand, clear, still, blue waters, while the Atlantic beaches are better for surfing, but have colored sand and icky dark waters. If you go to South Florida, you will find the waters are even more vivid than those in blue in the Panhandle, but the scene at night may be a little wild in some places (think South Beach). I recommend you look Ft. Lauderdale (close enough to Miami for a day trip), Pensacola, and Destin. Amelia Island is certainly quieter, but more of a resort (the Ritz Carlton and others). Not much to see and do. quaint shops and restaurants in Nice. Jacksonville Beach has only a handful of restaurants and hotels (www.hotelsofjacksonville.com) ... but has a pleasant beach and fishing pier. Report Abuse Amelia is a hell of a lot quieter and more pleasant than Jax Beach simply because it's kind of far from the city, this area is not a den of adolescence, and is near a plantation. But is is fine Amelia Island is a little more isolated and upscale, while Jacksonville Beach is more centrally located and has many more hotels, restaurants and attractions. Posted on July 5, 2010.
