Coral Gables Homes

Coral Gables HomesHow could I know what the address of the mother to my uncle lived in Coral Gables, FL in the 1940s?

All I know is that it was a big house with a door and concrete walls. I know where he was and possibly find a picture for my collection.

Two suggestions. Try old city directories. If you think it can not be changed since the 1930 census, take a look at it. If you do find it to give his address at that time.

I do not think you want to know if you know what I mean

Well, you can consult a book old phone. Most places had not a city directory, which listed almost everyone. You live close to Coral Gables? You can check with their local library or one more near and see what they have in terms of genealogical sources. Some states do between the two censuses, as well.
Unfortunately, you'll have to wait several years before the census of the United States, they release the 73 years after they were taken - the 1930 was released a few years ago. You will be able to see where he was living, at least.
You can contact the City Government Area - city or county clerk, in general - and have access to their records. Ask what they can offer. It will probably cost, though. If he died at this address, it should be inscribed on his death certificate, which again, usually cost you to get.
Make an online search for his name (Yahoo, Google, etc.) Surprising things can happen.
Check some sites like Ancestry.com or genealogy genealogy.com.
Hope that helps.

You better find if you look in the 1930 census. You can do this through ancestry.com.

Sit down and brainstorm about my uncle. When did he die? where? Did he go from there, and die elsewhere? Can you try to identify when it might be? Any indication as to whether owned, leased or perhaps? Been in contact with his children recently?
I try to pick you brain in a period of time, if possible. If you do this, you can go to the courthouse and go through the land records / deeds. There is an index stock index called the grantor /. When the house was sold, it is the component (it is indexed Cross) and the new person is the beneficiary. Obviously, you want to as close as you can for the good book. One of the 70 will not be used. If you can identify such a measure ... the index will give a book / page number, and you'll understand that.
The alternative (and better in person, if you have this option) to contact the historical society, explaining what you are looking for. Ask them to refer you to someone who knows the neighborhood and old houses. I can not assume how many houses there have concrete walls and doors .. but worth a shot.
If you can not go there in person .. check the name of county, drop rootsweb.com, search the mailing lists position. Subscribe to this. network and post the question there.

Call the main branch public library in Coral Gables. Ask the reference librarian and ask him to remove the old city directories of that time and look for you. I suppose a house that was a great phone.

The other option is to see if he enlisted in the Second World War has been pooled or in the project. In both cases, the address would be on the draft registration form.

The latter method is a little more, but equally effective. Contact the Registrar of Deeds for the county and discovered that the property has been registered on behalf of the uncle in a given year.
