Iceland Vacation Favorable exchange rate makes traveling to Iceland a Bargain I know that for many people, millions of people, times are tough. But if you have the idea and how I want to emphasize a real boon Travel - Iceland. Iceland is a travel destination normally very expensive. But in my opinion, as someone who has lived and worked in this country, it has always fallen short. It's a very exotic and beautiful. Downtown Reykjavik, the capital, is picturesque and old world. It is a great place for sightseeing in it is relatively small and pedestrians. The nightlife in Reykjavik is near world class, if you're so inclined. At the other end of the spectrum, Iceland offers opportunities for generous nature, including: hiking, horseback riding, whale watching, fishing, camping, climbing and the list continues. Many places offer these activities, let's be honest. But what makes it so unique is Iceland's unspoiled nature and breathtaking scenery. There are few places on earth where the air quality is as good and pure environment. But I digress. Why Iceland is a lot right now is a direct result of this global economic crisis. The exchange rate is very, very favorable for foreign, especially American and European travelers. This morning, October 22, 2008, the exchange rate of U.S. dollar to ISK (called crowns) is almost 118. This means that every dollar you spend is worth 118 crowns. A more normal rate of exchange in the area 80. Let's put this into practice. If you went to a dinner in Iceland and spent 5000 ISK for your meal at the dinner at the exchange rate of 80 would cost you $ 62.50, the exchange rate of 118 that same meal will cost you 42.37 $. That represents a savings of 32%. What is, apparently, is to reduce the cost of a trip in a cool (no pun intended) and one foreign country to a level comparable to costs in the United States. In addition, airfares to Iceland are very competitive right now. The only operator in the United States is Icelandair and they offer a bargain right now. To view the best deals, I recommend signing up for this Icelandair called 'the scales of luck. "They send you emails from their services today and you can log into their website to book tickets from their market . Of course there are other offers travel well there and maybe Iceland is not your cup of tea. But of all the countries that have experienced fluctuations in their currency, Iceland has been hardest hit which makes it particularly appropriate. I know that sounds a bit like capitalize on the misery and it may be. However, by going to Iceland you would actually help their situation, albeit in a very small, they get foreign capital and you can visit one of the most pristine environments left on earth. If all this sounds good, here's a primer on what you can expect. First you must know that Iceland, as you'd expect, has a mild climate that leans toward fresh and cold. The weather in autumn can be notoriously fickle. You could have a nice warm day with light winds and clear skies and wake up to a dusting of snow. So, put layers, good shoes and a waterproof winter coat that can withstand rain and wind. You do not need to exchange money once you get in the country. You can use your Visa or Visa debit card everywhere. I always see people in the queue at the airport to exchange their dollars and I wonder why. You can stay in private homes across the country or if you want, there are hotels. Rental cars are expensive but if you want to see the country with full autonomy, it is worth the cost. You can also look at the many tours in Iceland . Posted on June 22, 2010.
