The Longfellow National Historic District is located just east of downtown Iowa City and Coralville homes, surrounded by peaceful communities like West Branch, Downey, Breckenridge Estates, Oasis and Elmira. The National Association of Realtors and www.preservationdirectory.com helped in this extensive search that included places like: the best villages in Detroit, Michigan (place of good business), Best Old Town historic district in New Brunswick, Ga. (Place for Coastal Living), Junius Heights, Dallas, Texas (best place for families), Mayfair North Chicago, Illinois (Bungalows and best place to buy your first), West Adams in Los Angeles, California (best place for movie fans) and a height Stuyvesant in Brooklyn, New York (Best Place for Brownstone Buffs). The story is set to appear in the March 2010 print edition of the publication.

According to the publishers, the neighborhood houses Longfellow Iowa City has grown from a dilapidated and on the verge of conversion apartment there are twenty years to be staunchly protected historic district from 2002.
