How can you be relaeased a lease in the State of Michigan? My grandmother died and my family and wanted my wife, son and I to go there (in the will is silent, the condo has not wanted me). I have a year to go on my lease but I was told that would be responsible for the remaining months. I can not afford both my rent and my newly purchased condo. What can I do to get out of the lease? PLEASE HELP!
Your apartment allow subleasing?
If subletting is not prohibited, most (not), you could find someone to take over the remaining term of your apartment. Most apartments that will allow this person eligible for free you from liability. Check with your apartment complex on this option.
Then find someone who can just put an ad in the local newspaper.
Good luck
Hope this works for you.
Sub-leasing is an option if your lease allows.
I wonder which is your lease? I guess your lease is perhaps the heirs of your grandmother (your family). Since this sounds like an estate matter, I would look for loopholes in this aspect. If the condo was due to a family member and that is who you are in the lease, I would check to see if they went for approval and received a "letter" appointing authority of a personal representative for the estate. If this is not the person who issued the lease are not authorized to sign on behalf of the estate and could be considered void.
If possible, get advice from a lawyer, I'm just a real estate broker in Michigan, with experience selling real estate.
