For rental of Minnesota. Monthly lease began August 1 and ends August 30. Notice period is 60 days My friend signed a lease rental home in Minnesota. The start date of lease is August 1, 2007 and ending date of lease is August 30, 2007. It is a lease from month to month. However, the amount of notice for the lease is 60 days. My friend is planning to terminate the lease August 30, 2007 itself due to a job change and relocation. Does he always give 60 days' notice in such a situation? He signed the lease July 30, 2007. So it's not even possible to give 60 days notice for a lease which has started 20 days ago. Any suggestions or comments?
which is an illegal lease, the landlord knows that a lease is a month so there is no way the lessee (tenant for) may give notice of 60 days, only 30 days' notice, I would ask the local municipal housing on this and perhaps consider making a small business owners, it looks like a scam
The landlord can not require a notice period longer than the lease term (one month to another or to lease 30 days may not require more than 30 days notice)
"As a tenant to give you as much notice as the time between the lease payments. Therefore, if you pay monthly, you must provide notice of at least one month. Furthermore, this review must be given no later than the due date. So if you want to leave at the end of February, you should tell your landlord (preferably in writing by certified mail) no later than the last day of January "
