My family and I are going to Edmonton in Canada and you want advice on areas around Edmonton to live? The areas around Edmonton to experience something good and bad, more that we should not do or should not go.
The first thing you become aware of the shortage of apartments for rent. Those you will find top brand of $ 1,000 for a room for two in a decent neighborhood. While there are many houses on the market right now for sale you can always expect to pay around $ 350,000 for one. Even if the market has leveled so do not expect to get a really great deal.
As to where you want to want to watch and places you may want to avoid.
You can stay from the Chinatown, Boyle, Macauley areas - known as the center, although gradually the area is cleared and new condos and renovations are moving in. I would not recommend one of areas bordered by 137Ave to 111 and 110 Avenue to 34 St St (east side), it consists of gangs, prostitutes and you certainly would not bring your family in this area. Of course there are many communities that are NOT safer than others, but widespread throughout the region - many people prefer to stay far away.
Families would be well advised to take the Southeast a house - an old area of special needs housing for the middle class - many schools and community centers for recreation and shopping centers in particular around the Bonnie Doon. Capilano areas. The south-west although typically called a "major" area is becoming out of reach of middle class workers with soaring house prices. Millwoods well have something of a reputation are areas that are generally not bad. Millwoods is very multicultural with both community groups and businesses. The west side of town is very busy, but is saturated with malls apts, and of course West Edmonton Mall. Again you'll need to look for something be it a flat or a house in an affordable range.
You might even consider some of the so-called "community room" attached to small towns near Edmonton (in the 10 to 15 minutes), but are their own municipality. Principles to perhaps Sherwood Park in the is St. Albert base north-west or south-Beaumont - low taxes and higher property values, but still that small town feel safer and feel. They did not so much to find rental housing could take a little more energy and more money for them. Houses in these areas also tend to be slightly more expensive than many areas of the city itself.
St. Albert and Sherwood Park are both amenties that town has to offer - shopping, transit, booksellers, etc. Beaumont is the smallest of the three, and although more and more does not have all the same amenties, but so close to Millwoods and municipalities of the South, is not much more than an excuse.
You can go a bit more in Spruce Grove, Stony Plain (two to the west of the city), or even Fort Saskachewan (north-east of the city) that are within 20-30 minutes drive wide that a party the city you need access. House prices are a bit more reasonable but not much. Again all three have all amenties you will find in the city almost. communities of Nice, if you do not want the real city life. You'll need a vehicle to get to the city of these.
If you plan to buy a house to search - Toast Realtor on the security of the region or, better still call the police station and ask them about the crime rate in this area - that is what I did. Ask the convenience stores and gas stations on the problem of security because they are the ones who usually get hit.
You've probably already done some research on Edmonton already know that.
