Ontario Lease

Ontario LeaseCan you rent a car in the U.S. and get plates in Canada (Ontario in particular)?

With the rise of the Canadian $ against the U.S. dollar, things are now much cheaper in the U.S.. A car comes to $ 300 per month in Canada is $ 250 U.S.. Would allow Ontario to register a car in Ontario that is leased from a U.S. car dealership, for example, Buffalo, for example. Would this new brand car must pass a safety inspection in Ontario? If it is legal, what taxes do pay for tenant? PST and GST, State of New York, more taxes?

You may not rent or finance a car transfers. You must pay in full for the return to Ontario.

You must ensure that your brand / model is admissible to Canada. Once imported, you will need to make changes. ie. French brands, metric speedometer.

You will pay:
-State sales tax
PST-8%
GST-6%
-The import tax of 6.1% (only if your vehicle is manufactured in North America.
Air-Condition fee $ 100
High-emissions fee (varies by make / model)
