Printed Adhesive Tape

Printed Adhesive TapeWhen matting a print, what kind of tape should I use?

I do amateur matting and framing art from my wife. Usually I just use tape to ensure the art of mat. We are starting to get more professional and I do not want to use something that could damage the art. Is there a certain band that I should get to make sure that art is sure yet sure?

I strongly suggest you tape that is acid free. It is also called "archives".
Another thing to consider is that the tape is not stable due for restoration. If a print or an image should be cleaned or restored many years on the road, art restorers need to take things outside. A collector may also wish to change the mats as well.

If you are familiar with the brand "Scotch", they have a scrapbooking tape which is available at Michael's Craft store. It is acid free and non-permanent. Many of my friend who mate their tracks this band. I do too. If you can find and buy this tape at a local art store smaller is better. They often have better service and learn your name. That's all, good luck.

3M make a special tape and some other brands. The name of the band is Band "image" or a bunch of "framing" and its very dark and malleable image too.
