Property Boss

Property BossI am a property appraiser in Florida, my boss owes me five months of salary arrears. How do I get my money?

He refuses to pay me and I quit about a few weeks ago.

In my experience such people only respond to force. ie get a lawyer

obtain an attourney and gather evidence that he owes you money. take him to court.

Contact the Commissioner of Labor and file a complaint.

If you are an employee (taxes taken from your salary) Go to the Social Security office near you and file a claim.
If you are an independent contractor, which you file taxes separately visit your local Labor Board and file a complaint.
Also you can do for him to small claims court for legal costs very nominal.

Partly it depends on how you have been paid. Have you been paid a salary, received a commission or a person under contract.

If you operate a non-contract employees as your only real option is to take him to court.

If you were one of the other types, it depends on the situation. Why was he not pay you? Probably it was because he had no money, or has been declared bankrupt or is now out of business knowledge. If this were the case, you can have no other recourse but to sue to get what you can.

If it was that he had money and they simply do not pay you, then tell him you are going to make his failure to pay attention to its customers (estate agents and banks hate to hear about debt issues of salary / Provider) as well as to complain to your State Department of Labor and Social Security. If it does not, then start the turn and complain, and Sue.

Talk to a lawyer if you are owed money from what you have worked for him, you need to press for him. I hope you all have your papers in order, otherwise it may have "lost" his

Get a lawyer.

Depending on the actual amount he owes you, you may be able to take him to small claims court. Quite simply, you will not need to hire a lawyer for that. I do not know the limits but I think its anything above $ 5,000.00, which will go before the district courts. If you can back up your story with evidence that you should have no problem earning money. Just gather all the information about the job you have done for this person over the last five months and be prepared to present your case. I would send him a letter threatening to take him to court to give him so many days to respond to money and if not then take it to court, he will know that you are seriously once he has received court documents. While your at it, you should file a complaint with the Commission's work so that you can warn other potential employees that might not be worthy of paying for services.

Hiring a lawyer.
