Property Management IrelandCloud computing and real estate management

I was recently there with a client who has been with us for over 6 years. They run a management company owned store about 200 properties, and they will not mind me saying that they are not the company's most technologically sophisticated around. In fact the reason I was there because they had recently bought new computers to replace their machines with Windows XP, Windows 7. Without knowing it, their computers purchased included only a trial version of Microsoft Office that expired after 30 days. So - what did they do? Go buy two new copies of Microsoft Office?

Well, maybe not. Of course, like most, they use Word for letters, the spreadsheet Excel and Outlook odd to manage their email, but due to the cost and labor involved, that's about at this stage that any something like Google Apps begins to look attractive. Even the free version of Google Apps is able to provide a number of advantages over traditional installed software. Firstly it can be used by any internet there is a free version. The standard edition offers up to 7 GB of mail storage for each user which is more than sufficient for most users. The calendar is easy to use, can be easily shared between all users and accessible from anywhere. The word and spreadsheet functions may not be as fancy as an office, but they do the job. Many people also know they can always use their e-mail via Google Apps email. So you do not have the extension a@gmail.com your email, but continue to have an extension a@yourdomain.com.

By its very nature, Google Apps allows any company to become much more agile, essentially bypassing the costs invested by large companies are more traditional. Very little needs to be invested in setting up the infrastructure which means reductions in costs and complexity. It certainly can help small businesses get a jump on the big rivals from emails, documents and calendars is now accessible from anywhere and shared between users of the same company.

But this is not just for start-ups or small businesses. Even existing businesses can take advantage of the move to Google Apps. Look at it this way. Every few years, traditional societies have had to upgrade their servers, installing updated operating systems, invest in backups and spend money to make problems resolved. Then, each time a new version is released, there is the cost of purchasing, installing and time spent learning the new layout. And then, of course, you have to make sure everything is saved. Why go through it when all you need is Internet access.

There is a general trend in software movement on the web and you might be surprised by the fact that:

In April, the city of Los Angeles government choose to deploy Google Apps to Microsoft Office. They have over 30,000 users and gave three reasons for change:

· A severe budget deficit

· IT staff shortage

dissatisfaction · with the system office software.

The IT staff has been reduced from about 800 to 500, with less people it became more difficult to maintain in-house systems. While an organization with more money may have chosen to Microsoft Office, there had concerns about the capacity of the IT department to support an internal messaging system. In addition, the city is in a seismic area, but lacked a system for disaster recovery. The response: putting mail in Google's data centers would be a better way to guarantee availability. The news director of the city of Los Angeles, Randi Levin, said spending has played a major role in their decision. She also added that "it took a lot of our resources and time to run a house email system. We did not have a solution for disaster recovery e-mail, which is entirely relative, living in an earthquake zone.

Regarding the property management companies go, they '.
