Truck Rental OaklandRichard Teague one - U.S. car designer

Richard A. Teague, who was born in Los Angeles in 1925, began his career first as a child actor, Dixie Duval playing in several silent films from the 1920s. His brief career as has been terminated at the age of six when he was involved in an automobile accident. Her mother was seriously injured, which left her disabled for life. Young Richard was also seriously injured and lost sight in his right eye.

Because of those injuries, he was unable to join the armed forces in World War 2, so it is going to work for Northrop Corporation as a technical illustrator for an aircraft. His immediate supervisor was Paul Browne, who had already worked on the design team for General Motors. Browne Teague quickly recognized the talent and encouraged him to enroll in night classes at College of Art Design in Pasadena.

When the war ended, Teague moved to Oakland, California and began working for Henry Kaiser. There, he created a design for a car of Henry J. economy. He also illustrated covers for roads and rail in the store.

Then in 1948, Teague moved to Detroit to work in the design studio at General Motors by Edmund Anderson. Gradually he worked at the Cadillac Group advanced design. In 1951, Packard hired to replace head designer John Teague Reinhart, who resigned.

Teague had a keen eye for detail and an incredible ability to make significant changes under tight budget constraints. There bodies could again style so that it seemed new, without changing the chassis.

Packard Motor Corporation has been struggling during the early '50s and eventually passed over in 1956. Therefore, the design team moved to Chrysler Corporation, where Teague began as head designer in their design studio. However, he soon became involved in disputes with management and left Chrysler. He then began working for a firm of independent design assignments on non-automotive.

However, cars were his passion and Teague miss working for them in 1959, he went to American Motors as part of the design team Edmund Anderson. When Anderson left AMC in 1961, Teague became their main designer.

Teague was a unique person in that he possessed a rare combination of artistic talent and management. It was an excellent administrator as well as a talented designer. Consequently, he was promoted to vice president in 1964 and remained in that position until his retirement in 1983.

Some designs include Teague Pacer Gremlin, Matador coupe, Rambler American, AMC Javelin, Hornet AMX, the Rambler Classic and Ambassador. He designed the AMX GT as a concept car that later went into production.

His achievements and designs have been particularly remarkable because of physical limitations imposed by its inability to perceive depth in a normal manner.

Teague had a great sense of humor and often joked that the only car manufacturer, he had never worked for the Ford.

Cars were his work and his passion. He is a prominent historian and an avid collector of classic cars and rare models. He had between 400 and 500 cars.
