This will calculate it for you. Bon voyage.

In your real world numbers are not going to work as neatly as they do on your calculator.
In the real world you are 300 miles per tank as your advantage number. One base to do this is if you blow a fuse on your [gas gauge and I have], you can calculate how much gas you have left in the tank using your odometer
In the real world, you often get gas before I really need this is particularly true for the empty section of America that you will be crossing
Hmmm lets see if I can get all your gas stops?
1) Kingman AZ> U.S. 93 and I-40
Since you can not get a truck over Hoover Dam, you must route>> Las Searchlight NV> Laughlin NV> Kingman AZ
2) Chandler, Tempe / AZ
Route it I> E-40> S U.S. 93 in Wickenburg> U.S. 60 E / S SR-77 aka Carefree Highway, turn left
Take SR 77 east to I-17 S
I-17 S to exit a loop 101 / Scottsdale
Loop 101 ends at Loop 202
West Loop 202 to I-3 xits 10 E
3) Las Cruces, NM> which is good place to call it a night
4) Ft Stockton TX
Depending on how things go you can meet again before hitting San Antonio so that you do not play games gas gauge in the peak hour traffic
safe journey

I never made the trip from San Antonio to Las Vegas in a truck. However, I have a tip for you to know how much gas you need. Contact the rental company to see how many miles the truck can go on a tank of gas. Then, use MapQuest or Google Maps to find the distance between San Antonio and Las Vegas. Divide the distance by the mileage gas mileage and that should be how many tanks of gas you need.

On average, 16 trucks get 9-10 miles per gallon, depending on your style of driving. I would not go below a quarter of a reservoir just in case you find a gas station that does not seem very good. Thus, 300 miles per tank on average. Las Vegas, NV San Antonio TX is 1276 miles.

Your search for 4 tanks, and a few pints when you drop off the truck.

1) get the gas mileage trucks

2) how many miles it is

3) dividing the number of miles, the MPG of the truck, for estimating how many gallons must be

4) divide the # of gallons by 35

there is your answer
