Truck Rental Specials insurance rental truck? We will rent a truck for a move to Penske. They insist, we must obtain a special insurance for their truck it about 110 .00. They say that our private car insurance does not cover it. Is this true?? True. personal automobile insurance policies no longer about private passenger type vehicles - not trucks. Well, I recommend getting insurance. I rented a truck (another company) and hit a parked car. My own insurance covered the damage caused to the other car, but the insurance I bought through them covered the damage to truck. Boy I'm glad I got it! Call your insurance agent, it should be covered, if not buy it from your agent, it will be cheaper. Your car insurance only covers vehicles up to certain weight limits. When you take a larger truck and put all your content in it, you've probably exceeded what is normally covered by insurance. You will have a trade show. I recommend insurance. It will keep you the assurance of a request and you will probably cover the content that your auto insurance policy would not also. To be sure check with your insurance agent. Good Luck. it depends on the weight of the truck. your automobile insurance policy has limits. if a big truck, then its most likley true. contact your agent to see what the weight restrictions are. I've used a truck of 10 m and was covered by my car, but when I had to use a 20 feet it was not. Posted on September 10, 2011.
